Nascido em 1957, Jeremy Gardiner licenciou-se na Universidade de Newcastle (1975-79) e concluiu o mestrado no Royal College of Art, em Londres (1980-83). Mudou-se para os Estados Unidos graças a uma bolsa Harkness e a uma bolsa Churchill (1984-98) e, em 1998, fixou-se com a sua jovem família em Bath. Lecionou no Royal College of Art e no Pratt Institute of Art and Design, em Nova Iorque.
Gardiner expôs internacionalmente, nomeadamente na Bienal de Veneza, no Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, no Victoria and Albert Museum, em Londres, e na Bienal de Chengdu, na China. Foram publicados três livros sobre o seu trabalho: «Unfolding Landscape» (Lund Humphries, 2013), «South by Southwest» (Sansom & Co, 2020) e «Strata» (Unicorn, 2026), que incluem ensaios de historiadores de arte, curadores e críticos. O seu trabalho foi analisado no «The New York Times», no «The Boston Globe», no «The Guardian» e no «The Sunday Times».
A obra de Gardiner está representada em coleções públicas e empresariais, incluindo o Victoria and Albert Museum, a Government Art Collection, o BNP Paribas, a Pincent Masons e a Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi. Gardiner has exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale, the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Chengdu Biennale in China. Three books have been published about his work, Unfolding Landscape (Lund Humphries, 2013) South by Southwest (Sansom & Co, 2020) and Strata (Unicorn, 2026) which include essays by art historians, curators and critics. His work has been reviewed in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Guardian and The Sunday Times.
Gardiner’s work is represented in both public and corporate collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Government Art Collection, BNP Paribas, Pincent Masons and Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi. Awards include a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship and Arts Council England, British Council and Arts and Humanities Research Council grants. Pillars of Light, a documentary film about his work was awarded the Fine Arts Documentary prize at the Fine Arts Film Festival of Santa Barbara in 2016.
